  1. The Secondhand Bookseller
To me this affected the way I understood her story due to the fact she was pursicuted for what she belived in later. not to mention she almost lost her life. She grew up beliving that she could have her own veiws on everything. She thought she could read and expand her mind with the power of books. Also, her earlier years that she wrote about later gave her the knowledge of how books are written in different Genres, and the power that a book or "voice" could affect people. I didn't realize at first that it had so much religious undertones to it untill class discussion today.

  2. The Canary-Colored Caravan of Death RR#2
Bechel describes in outstanding detail of where she lived and about her childhood. She shows pictures of maps that display her home, roads, mountains, ridges, plateaus, and valleys. She esspecially point out Bad Eagle mountian and Interstate 80. And the very tiny spec that's marked "our house". She also show with images of a devided home, and her loneliness. She protrays herself alone walking though creeks and forrests taking pictures. She point out the sky numorous times. Some of the drawings show her and her mother after her fathers death where she trying to communicate with her mother and not being able to obtain the attention. Others show that in her earlier years she who try to write poetry and painting, just to get shot down by her father. So she gave it up. She also tried coloring in "The Wind in the Willows, coloring book", and her father takes over because the she's coloring the train car midnight blue, not yellow-orange and golden rod. I get the sense that her family was divided and she felt very alone, she had no idea about her father's choices in life.

  3. Juno: Not Another Teen Movie RR#3
I thought this evaluation was really well writen and put together. She speeks about how she feels that the diologue is unrealistic but the heart of the movie is believable and then she backs those statements up. She also states something bad and then also points out the good. In this evaluation there are outside resources that are used and they come together really well. I think this would be a prime example to break down and use as a basis for a stucture to write my own paper. I can not emphasize enough how well I like this evaluation. The actors are named and then thier real names in parenthasize, which is properly done. There is a good background to the movie about the director. She quotes from the movie to show the unrealistic diologue that is used for a pregnant teenager, but also paints a realistic picture of the emotion, or heart of the movie. I believe that she is right about this movie not making Juno(Ellen Page) a good role model for teenagers, but also protrays a good image of her doing the right thing by staying in school and giving the baby up for adoption. This evaluation shows that it is not a summary or a movie spoiler, and also gives a good balance of good and bad.

  4. 007 Is Back, and He's Brooding RR#4
In this evaluation of the James Bond movies they compare how the charactor(bond) evolves over the course of the series of movies. They go on to write about the emotional dis connect of bond from the female characters. As the movies move along the names of the women roles have gotten more politically correct. In the older movies with Sean Connery(bond) women were only in the story line for one thing only, and in the more resent movies Daniel Craig(bond) has gotten more attached to the women character. The worry of this evaluation is that Craig is going to become "a tragic figure." Even thought it also states grief has always been apart of the hero's baggage.

  5. Seelye's Article RR #5
In this artice that is writen is about the rat race to sell magazines and how numbers grab proples attention. On a news stand number especially larger in print stand out more. When some magazines take about having some many eays to do thing most likely it was a poll not interviews. The covers may have beautiful women on there surrounded by nimbers. It's not always a certain quanty of numbers, and ther is no correct formula. Although, it does state that people favor the number seven and dhy away from the number thirteen. I like thats peer superstition, which should not affect people. Also, it's not with just wwomens magazines, it's also started with mens magazines for example: 50 eays to get a deer. Really what is with the numbers, it's liek a body dismorfic disorder or OCD. I do not know that many prople attracted to numbers. I do not need twelve hair tips and fifty up-dos. As you can tell i don't rally read any magazines.

  6. Lanrty's Article RR#6
In this reading I find it to be increadibly true. Even before it was okay for society to be shown 'skin' women have always had dome sort of sex appeal for adds, weither they be beauty products, ciggeretts, or even mens products. As time went on it was so mush for others as themselve to be better wives or get better men, and then to the evolution of 'about me' looking better to attractmen or what women aprove of thats 'sexy'. The standard has always pretty much been the same since adds were around, they all invoved a pretty girl witha catchy 'theme'. Girls are always 'in shape for the time period' , beautifully white smil, and and some kind of saying that had a double meaning. Isee where Lantry is coming from when he states, "one theme remains consistant and may be a continuing debilitating factor in awomen's stuggle for ture equality in the world of sex role:" Face it sex sells and women have beeen and still are stuggling to be equal to man. We have just learned to use what we've go to get as far as we can. The clothes may have gotten smaller and sexuallity is more strongly represented now days, I believe the women goal in life has never chaged, equality. Through the years the more provocitive adds we see is just to maintain visual stimulation to to the desynitizing of the people today, nnot that the message has really changed. Bleach is still bleach and does the same thing its always done, but you don't see a man run around with a sock comparision.

  7. Hopkins Proposal #7
In this paper that was written it is a proposal by Megan Hopkins. She has everything outline and written so clear. I like the way she antisipates the questions she may get from people. I was kind of surprised about how long it was. She wants to change the Teachers for America program, because when she was in it she felt so unorginized. Good thing it was just a bunch of first graders. The equality that every part of this proposal is tremedously amazing. I really like the layout of this poposal in particular. Sometime I think that it is crazy that we are learning to write like this and understand why you do it that way, see how it turns out. I am enjoying myself.

  8. Reading Response #8 Burnett's proposal
I like the way that he gets the audience in to this proposal and how he used fact to show how both side work against one another even if they are on the same side. The depiction of fighting on the same side of the fence was represented really well. Who knew it cost so much to run a national park. I think it's crazy how the parks and Forrest's are millions of dollars in debt, seemingly because two side can't work something out. It unmistakably points out the fact that either side don't trust each other. The set up of this proposal get you interested and keeps you there. Especially the bullet points and how they are placed and used throughout the essay. Sounds to me like both side need to be on the same page, not just the same book.
